Vi behövde ha något så simpelt som nya tändhattar och tändkabel till vår utombordare. Efter 5 års flitigt användande så började motorn protestera lite grand. Ville inte varva ur med den påföljd att motorn inte fick jollen i planing som normalt sett inte är några som helst problem.

Problemet uppdagades när vi skulle gå i land på Sardinien. Där fanns inte tillstymmelse till affär av något slag, så vi sa att det fixar vi på Ibiza.
Nähä då. Skeppshandeln i marinan hade visserligen tändstift, men det vi behövde. Nix pix. Lite snopna kände vi oss men sa att vi ska ju till Cartagena och de har ju en stor marina med uppläggningsplatser och massor av båtar. Där hittar vi. Första skeppshandeln. Nix. Men han var vänlig nog att tala om var det fanns en annan skeppshandel. Bara 5-10 min promenad. Lungt. Vi behöver röra på oss. Men resultatet var nedslående. De visste inte ens vad det var vi ville ha. Trots att vi visade upp den gamla!! Men återigen fick vi veta att “gå till vår granne, 100 m uppåt gatan. Han har!” Vi hittade och killen som hjälpte oss skakade på huvudet. Nej inget sådant fanns i hans butik. Nu började vi bli lite lätt frustrerade. Det absolut simplaste till en utombordare. Standard 1A i reservdelsligan.
Killen var hygglig och ringde till någon som han trodde kunde hjälpa oss och jo då han hade. Vi fick addressen och det var bara 20 minuter att gå. Som tur var så skulle vi åt det hållet iallafall för att bunkra lite mat igen. Vi knatade iväg, fick en härlig promenad och fick se mer av vackra Cartagena. Hittade MC-affären!! han hade och vi var lyckliga.
När vi kom tillbaka till båten hade vi gått ca 7 km. Det kändes i benen som inte är så vanan vid att gå så långt. Speciellt inte efter de senaste 2 veckornas långa seglingar och ankarliggande.

Jonas har monterat nya tändstift, tändhattar och tändkablar. Men vi måste få motorn i vattnet monterad på jollen innan vi kan testa. Så det får bli i Portimao om någon vecka.

We needed to have something as simple as new caps and ignition lead to our outboard. After 5 years of heavy use the engin started to protest a bit. It did not want to stress out with the result that the engine didn’t get the dinghy onto plane mode that normally are not any problems.

The problem came to light when we would go ashore in Sardinia. There was not any shops at all in the bay, so we said it’ll do in Ibiza.
Nope. Ship Trading in the marina had spark plugs, but what we needed. Nope. A little crestfallen, we felt us but said we’re going to Cartagena and they’ve got a large marina with storage sites and lots of boats. There we find the spare parts. The first ship Chandler shop. Nope. But he was kind enough to tell us where to find an other chandlery. Just 5-10 minutes walk. No problems. We need to get some exersice. But the result was disappointing. They did not even know what it was that we were looking for. Although we showed up the old !! But again we were told to "go to our neighbour, 100 meters up the street. We found the shop and the guy who helped us shook his head. No, no such thing was in his shop. Now we started to get a little frustrated. The absolute simplest spare part for an outboard motor.

The guy was very nice and called someone he thought could help us and yes finally one that got the spare parts. We got the address and it was only 20 minutes to go. Luckily, we were heading in that direction anyway to stock some food. We walked away, got a lovely walk and got to see more of the beautiful Cartagena. Found motorcycle shop !!
When we got back to the boat, we had walked about 7 km. It really feel it in our legs. We are not used to walk that far anymore. Especially after the last two weeks long sailing and at anchor.

Jonas has installed new spark plugs, plug caps and ignition cables. But we have to get the motor into the water and mounted on the dinghy before we can test. that will be on the next anchorage.
